Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Embrace of the Pink City – Delhi or Jaipur Start

With the early morning rays of dawn or the radiant lights of the golden hour lighting up your arrival, you can start your amazing adventure in either the buzzing city of Delhi or right into the heart of Jaipur, depending on which way is convenient for you.

Arriving in Delhi, the morning begins with an easy drive through the plain lands with the highway taking you through the pink colored fortresses of Jaipur, where the heritage hotel will greet you with the breakfast of hot tea, parathas, and fruit.

During the day, the grandiose Amber Fort presents itself to you with its mirror halls, and your walk will take you through the elephant gates and the courtyards, echoing for centuries with the history of India. As the sun sets, the City Palace Complex opens up with its marble decorations and museums, and the Hawa Mahal palace illuminates its honeycomb façade.

In case you are beginning straight away in Jaipur, then the daily schedule is as follows:

You wake up to the morning sun shining through the Aravalli mountains onto your hotel, after which there is the same lavish breakfast and a tour of the walls of the Amber Fort where the breeze brings along echoes of previous wars. In the afternoon, the Jantar Mantar observatory gets illuminated by the sun, giving way to some leisure time spent shopping for fabrics and silver in the markets.

The morning light comes through your hotel window as breakfast is being served to you on the terrace from where you can see the beautiful pinkish sandstone hues of the old city.

You delve further inside the royal domain as you tour the City Palace with its exquisite interiors that narrate stories of the Maharajas through the crystal chandeliers and the painted ceilings of the palace. The rising sun transports you by car to the Nahargarh Fort, which stands amidst the hills with spectacular views of the vast city sprawled beneath the hill.

The afternoon sees you back in the city streets as the local craftsmen showcase block printing and gem polishing techniques. Towards golden hour, you make your way up to Jaigarh Fort and its historic cannons and then back down for an evening spent exploring the local markets. The sun sets in a blazing display of colors over the Pink City, after which you enjoy a relaxing dinner at your hotel along with some traditional music.

Given that you will be served an early breakfast, it is time to take the road to Jodhpur, with a beautiful drive through the hilly regions of Rajasthan that are occasionally populated by herds of camels.

On your way, you can make a brief stop at one of the many villages where you can learn about the rural lifestyle and drink a hot cup of masala chai. In the Blue City, you will get there in the evening with the Mehrangarh Fort towering above the city and its indigo-colored buildings.

In evening walks, one gets to witness the illuminated walls of the fort in the sound and light show, telling about the glorious past of this fort. Dinner includes a delicious laal maas along with other Marwari dishes while looking at the sparkling blue city lights.

As you head back to experience the magnificence of Mehrangarh Fort as sunrise greets you in soft rays of light, one gets to experience the magnificence of the fort, palaces, armory museums, and view terraces from which one can get a panoramic view of the blue washed houses of the old town. Breakfast is enjoyed amidst the beautiful scenery at the fort café with aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air.

As darkness gathers, the lively Sardar Bazaar is filled with sights, smells, and the sounds of spices, crafts, and street food stalls that make your senses dance. The winding streets with their haveli buildings in that distinct blue hue are captured amid the dry landscape. Sunsets from atop the fort’s walls turn the sky into a canvas of color, after which you enjoy dinner at the hotel.

A healthy breakfast is followed by traveling southwards to the City of Lakes, where changes in the scenery can be seen through rock formations and green valleys as you travel. Stops along the way provide an opportunity for taking photos of traditional scenes and maybe visiting the temples. After reaching Udaipur in the afternoon, you get a view of Lake Pichola from your lakeside heritage hotel.

The evening kicks off with a serene boat trip in the midst of the lake, with the City Palace and Jag Mandir shining through in the twilight. The beauty of the sunset reflection in the lake adds to the magical mood. Dinner will be accompanied by stunning views of the lit up palaces while you listen to beautiful folk music from Rajasthan.

The dawn is marked with a quiet breakfast on your hotel balcony, looking out over the lake. This particular day will take you through all the wonders of Udaipur, including the City Palace, with its courtyards, museum, and beautiful views of the lake. Later in the morning, Saheliyon-ki-Bari gardens provide an oasis of calm with their fountains and lotus pools.

Evening excursions are in the form of visits to Jagdish Temple and artisan shops where miniature paintings and silver work are on display. As evening falls, yet another round of boating is done, or alternatively, the Bagore Ki Haveli is visited for a performance of traditional dance form. Dinner is had in the most memorable way possible in the magical ambience of the city.

And the final day starts with a slow, relaxing breakfast, possibly with one last look out across Lake Pichola. And based on the timings of your flight or train from Udaipur, there is the possibility of having some time to spend at an observation point or bazaar where you can pick up some last-minute souvenirs.
