The Mughal kings promoted papermaking in Rajasthan and founded a paper industry here in the 1520s. Maharaja Jai Singh II was the one who brought this artwork to Jaipur and established a paper company in the city’s outskirts, Sanganer. The term “Sanganer” is now used interchangeably with handmade paper. There are several different products in the collection. There are several uses for these handmade, acid-free papers. It tells the story of the 600-year-old voyage of handcrafted papermaking. The Jaipur Handmade Paper Industries is renowned for its exceptional quality and produces paper with both traditional and modern contemporary designs, including printed papers, flower papers, and banana paper.
