Chand Baori Stepwell

The star has 13 storeys, 3,500 narrow steps arranged in perfect symmetry. Built 8th-9th century, still in amazing condition. Walk down as far as allowed, feel the temperature drop 15 degrees instantly.

Harshat Mata Temple

Right opposite the baori. Dedicated to goddess of joy. Beautifully carved panels of Vishnu, Shiva, dancers and daily life scenes from 8th century. Roof gone, magic intact.

Village walk around Abhaneri

Village walk around Abhaneri Real rural Rajasthan. Mud houses, women in bright ghagras carrying water pots, kids playing cricket with a brick as wicket. Takes 20 minutes and shows where the water from the baori once went.

Bhandarej Baori

Bhandarej Baori (15 km away) Smaller, quieter stepwell, almost no tourists. Overgrown, atmospheric, perfect for photos without crowds.

Nearby Mehandipur Balaji Temple
