Ayodhya, located in Faizabad district of Uttar Pradesh, is not only an ancient city of India, but it is the land where Lord Shri Ram was born. How to Reach
- The nearest airport to Ayodhya is 'Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport' located in Maharajganj. This airport is connected to cities like Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai. Ayodhya city can be reached from the airport by taxi/cab in 15-20 minutes.
- Ayodhya is well connected by road to Lucknow (135 km), Gorakhpur (160 km) and Varanasi (200 km), the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Regular bus service from NH27 and NH330, taxis and own vehicle can also be used for comfortable travel.
- Ayodhya Dham Railway Station (formerly Ayodhya Junction) is connected to major cities of India like Delhi, Lucknow, Prayagraj and Varanasi. The distance to Ram Mandir complex, Saryu Ghat and other places of interest from the station is only 3-4 kilometres.

Ram Mandir
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple is a symbol of India’s faith and self-respect, which has been rebuilt after 500 years of struggle. This temple, full of grand sanctum sanctorum, architecture and divinity, becomes the center of devotion for thousands of devotees every day.
Hanumangarhi
This temple located in the heart of the city is the main pilgrimage of Bajrangbali. When devotees climb 76 stairs and visit, they get amazing peace. It is believed that Hanuman ji himself protects Ram Darbar.
Kanak Bhawan
This grand building is dedicated to Lord Ram and Mother Sita. It is said that it was given by Mother Kaikeyi as a gift. Colorful windows, paintings and lifelike statues make it worth seeing.
Saryu Ghat
The ghats located on the banks of the Saryu river are the main places for devotees to bathe, meditate and perform aarti. Saryu Aarti is organized here every evening, which makes one extremely emotional.
Lata Chowk
This square is built in the memory of Lata Mangeshkar, where a huge statue of Shri Ram and a marble statue of Lata ji are installed. The beautiful lighting, photo points and fountains here attract tourists.
Nageshwarnath Temple
This temple of Ramayana period was built by Kush, son of Shri Ram. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and special events are held here on Mahashivratri.
Ram Ki Pauri
This paved valley built on the banks of the Saryu river is famous for religious bathing, Surya Vandana and Deepdaan. Grand events are held here on special festivals.
Dashrath Mahal
This palace is believed to be the residence of King Dashrath in the Ramayana period. It has beautiful statues of Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita and ancient architecture worth seeing.

Ram Navami
On the birth anniversary of Shri Ram, the atmosphere of Ayodhya becomes like heaven. Special worship and procession is held at Kanak Bhawan, Ram Janmabhoomi and Saryu Ghat. Lakhs of devotees take bath and chant Ram’s name on this day.
Deepotsav
This festival organized by the Uttar Pradesh government is celebrated before Diwali, in which the joy of Ram’s return to Ayodhya is celebrated by lighting lakhs of diyas at Saryu Ghat. This event is also recorded in the Guinness Book.
Shravan Month Worship
In the month of Shravan, crowds of Shiva devotees gather at Nageshwarnath temple, Shivalayas and ghats. Kanwar Yatra and Jalabhishek are special attractions.
Makar Sankranti and Khichdi Mela
This fair organized in January is a festival of devotees’ bathing, bhajan and charity. Devotees wish for salvation by taking a dip in Saryu.
