Gangteng Gewog
The Gangtey Tshechu is the primary festival of the region. It’s held at the Gangtey Monastery where there are colourful masked dance performances, rituals, and traditional performances by many local people and tourists who travel to the region to experience this festival.
The Black Necked Crane Festival takes place in the Phobjikha Valley on the arrival of the black necked cranes. The festival promotes awareness of conservation through cultural performances and educational activities.
The Losar Festival is Bhutanese New Year and people participate in it with traditional rituals, family gatherings, and festive meals in Gangtey.
Wangdue Phodrang Tshechus take place in and around Wangdue Phodrang and are characterized by colourful masked dances, religious ceremonies and large numbers of visitors from nearby Gangteng.
Buddha Jayanti is a celebration of the birthday of the Lord Buddha, taking place in monasteries all over the Kingdom, with large prayer ceremonies and peaceful gatherings throughout the day.
Drubchen is a highly revered religious festival that includes a number of sacred ceremonies and rituals, with a strong emphasis on Bhutanese Buddhist traditions.
