Fair & Festival celebrate in Khimsar

Nagaur Cattle Fair (Feb)

Second biggest in Rajasthan after Pushkar. 80,000 cows, camels, turbans, moustache contests. 40 km away, worth the dusty chaos.

Khimsar Dune Festival (dates vary, usually winter)

Private festival by the fort. Folk music, fire dancers, dune bashing, Rajasthani thali under the stars.

Teej (July-Aug)

Village women swing from trees, sing monsoon songs, invite you for sweet ghevar. Small but real.

Gangaur

Processions of women carrying brass pots, dancing in the fort courtyard. The family opens the royal temple for everyone.

Holi

Played with real desert mud first, then colours. By noon the fort walls look like a rainbow exploded.

Diwali

The entire fort was outlined with thousands of diyas. Looks like a fairy tale from the highway.
