Horse and camel races, tent-pegging, moustache competitions near the cenotaphs. Very local, very colourful, almost no tourists.
Makar Sankranti Kite Festival
The sky above the Betwa fills with kites launched from palace rooftops. Evening bonfires and sesame-jaggery sweets everywhere.
Teej & Gangaur (July-August)
Women in green and red carry decorated pots to the river, sing monsoon songs, and swing under neem trees. Simple village joy.
Orchha Dance Festival (February-March)
Classical dancers perform inside Jahangir Mahal and on the riverbank against the lit-up cenotaphs. Small, intimate, and magically atmospheric.
