Jaipur’s Sanganer Airport (150-200 km away) is the only sensible choice, flights from every major city. From the airport, hire a taxi (?3500-5000 for the day) or jump on a luxury Volvo. No closer commercial airports exist; this is still deliciously off the main circuit.

The drive from Jaipur via Ringas or from Delhi via Neemrana is pure joy, wide highways, sudden flocks of green parrots, and the first painted haveli appears like a mirage around Sikar. Self-drive, cab, or Rajasthan Tourism’s luxury buses; roads are smooth and the scenery addictive.

By Rail: Decent connections: Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Churu and Nawalgarh all have stations. Overnight trains from Delhi (Delhi-Bikaner Express) or Jaipur (Jaipur-Sikar passenger). Step off the train and the frescoes start within five minutes, sometimes even on the station walls themselves.
