Vrindavan Travel Destination

Vrindavan is a holy town located in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, which is known all over the world for the childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna and the love stories of Radha-Krishna. This place is situated on the banks of river Yamuna and is located just 10 kilometers from Mathura. The name of Vrindavan is made up of ‘Vrinda’ (Tulsi) and ‘Van’ (forest or jungle), where Shri Krishna spent the early years of his life.

Banke Bihari Temple

This is the most famous and revered temple of Vrindavan, which is dedicated to the ‘Bihari Ji’ form of Lord Krishna. The specialty of this temple is that darshan is done only from behind the curtain, which is removed at some time. The aarti, crowd, and devotion here give tourists a supernatural experience. Every year lakhs of devotees come here for darshan.

Prem Mandir

This is a grand marble temple built in recent years, which was built by Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj. Its lights and light shows at night, glimpses of Radha-Krishna and paintings captivate the mind. The calm atmosphere and beautiful architecture of Prem Mandir make it an ideal tourist destination.

ISKCON Temple (Shri Krishna Balram Temple)

Nidhivan

Seva Kunj

This is the place where Shri Krishna used to serve with Radharani and Sakhis. The peace here, the density of Tulsi and the devotional atmosphere make it a suitable center for meditation and sadhana. It is believed that divine leelas take place here at night.

Yamuna Ghat (KC Ghat)

Vrindavan’s Holi is world famous, which is full of colors, love and devotion. This festival is celebrated on Falgun Purnima in the spring season. It is believed that Lord Krishna played Holi of colors with Radha and Gopis, which even today devotees celebrate with the same enthusiasm. Special events are organized on Phool Ki Holi, Gulal Holi and Rang Panchami at Banke Bihari Temple. Thousands of tourists from India and abroad come to Vrindavan to participate in this festival.

Raasleela Festival

Raasleela Festival is celebrated especially in the month of Kartik. This festival is celebrated in memory of the divine Raasleela performed by Lord Krishna with Gopis. Raasleela of Vrindavan is performed by famous folk artists, in which the childhood and love leelas of the Lord are brought to life. Devotees get emotional and join the Lord’s leela. Raasleela is considered a symbol of spiritual love and devotion.

Jhulan Utsav

The Jhulan Utsav is celebrated in the month of Sawan when Lord Krishna and Radharani are put on a swing. This festival is a symbol of love, beauty and devotion. Swings are decorated in famous temples of Vrindavan such as Banke Bihari Temple, on which the Lord is seated. Devotees come in large numbers to see bhajans and kirtans and the tableau of swings decorated with flowers. This festival continues for five days.

Janmashtami

Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna and has special significance in Vrindavan. It is celebrated on the Ashtami of Bhadrapad month at 12 midnight. There are special tableaux, decorations and kirtans at Banke Bihari Temple, ISKCON Temple and Radha Ballabh Temple. Devotees observe fast and welcome the appearance of the Lord at night with aarti and distribution of prasad. This day is dedicated to the culmination of Krishna devotion.

Raasleela Darshan
