Fair & Festival celebrate in Himachal Pradesh

Kullu Dussehra (October)

Unique seven-day celebration where Lord Raghunath’s chariot is pulled by devotees and village gods arrive in procession. No Ravan burning; instead music, dance, and mountain deities ruling the streets.

Shimla Summer Festival (May-June)

Week-long party on the Ridge; folk dances, flower shows, fashion parades, and concerts under pine trees. Perfect weather, perfect vibe.

Minjar Fair, Chamba (July-August)

Week of cornhusk (minjar) processions, folk theatre, and the Ravi river worshipped. One of Himachal’s oldest and most colourful.

Losar (Tibetan New Year, Feb-March)

Spiti, Kinnaur, and McLeodganj explode with masked dances, butter lamps, and chang (barley beer). Best experienced in freezing Ki monastery.

Shivratri at Baijnath & Mandi (Feb-March)

Mandi’s week-long Shivratri is wild; over 200 deities arrive on palanquins. Night processions, trance dances, and pure mountain devotion.

Lavi Fair, Rampur (November)

400-year-old trade fair on old Silk Route. Horses, pashmina, spices, and Kinnauri shawls. Evening bonfires and folk music under autumn stars.
