Palces to visit in Kathmandu
The primary entry point to Nepal is through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Other Tatiana locations also have flights to TIA, including several major Indian metropolitan airports - New Delhi, Mumbai, and Varanasi - as well as several foreign airports, including Doha, Dubai, and Bangkok. There are multiple carriers connecting these locations through TIA, including Nepal Airlines, IndiGo, and Qatar Airways. TIA is located a short distance from the capital of Kathmandu, providing convenient access for getting to the center of the city.
To cross the border from India, there are several locations where people travel - e.g., near Varanasi (Sunauli), Gorakhpur (Sunauli), or Patna (Raxaul). A variety of buses are available in these towns, which take about 8-12 hours to get to Kathmandu (depending on the route). The journey through the Terai plains and hills is scenic, giving everyone a chance to enjoy some views along the way if they like road trips.
Direct train access to Kathmandu isn’t available; therefore, people will use Indian railways to get to border towns like Gorakhpur, Raxaul or Jaynagar and take either a bus, jeep or another mode of local transport to cross into Nepal. In the case of Jaynagar-Kurtha, it is an alternative for those looking to travel between India and Nepal. The line ends at Kurtha. The train is used as a cheap option, as are buses or other modes of transportation.
