How to reach Kausani

Nearest airport is Pantnagar (170 km, 5-6 hrs drive). Limited flights from Delhi. Most people fly to Delhi and continue by road or train. Taxis from Pantnagar ?3500-4500. Newer option: Dehradun’s Jolly Grant (320 km) has more flights.

Stunning hill drive. Overnight Volvo buses from Delhi (Anand Vihar ISBT) reach early morning. Self-drive via Moradabad-Rampur-Almora is beautiful but slow (11-12 hrs). From Kathgodam or Almora, shared taxis ?300-500, private ?2000-3000. Monsoon landslides possible.

Nearest major railhead: Kathgodam (110 km). Ranikhet Express and Sampark Kranti from Delhi arrive in the morning. From the station, taxis (?2500-3000) or shared jeeps (?300) climb through pine forests and rhododendron tunnels to Kausani in 4-5 hrs.
