Fair & Festival celebrate in Kurintar

Dashain

The Dashain Festival is the most popular Hindu festival that takes place in Kurintar. Many families will gather together, offer prayers to God, receive blessings from their elders, and perform various other types of rituals to celebrate this time. During this time, the Manakamana Temple will receive a plethora of visitors, as it creates a very lively and spiritual feeling in the entire area of Kurintar.

Tihar Festival

The Tihar Festival (Festival of Lights) is celebrated with decoration, colorful lights, oil lamps, and prayer. During this celebration, the participants will honor and offer blessings to three main animals, crows, dogs, and cows. Again, during Tihar, the majority of homes in the Town of Kurintar will be decorated with numerous holiday lights, and the entire area will look very colorful and festive.

Maghe Sankranti

During Maghe Sankranti, the sun will change into the Capricorn zodiac sign. Many people will enter into Trishuli River to receive cleansing rituals (holy baths) and will eat (share) a traditional meal. This is a very auspicious time for many people; because of this reason, many pilgrims from all over will come to Rouintar to pray to God, and they will celebrate with the other local people.

Teej Festival

The Teej Festival is celebrated by women fasting, dancing, and praying for happiness in their marriages and for everyone in their community. All women assemble at the temples dressed in red clothes (saris) and sing devotional songs; Teej is a celebration of dedication, culture, and gathering the community together as a result of celebration at the Manakamana Temple.

Buddha Jayanti

Buddha Jayanti is a special day that celebrates the birth of Siddhartha Buddha, or the Buddha. Although it is traditionally a Buddhist holiday, it is celebrated by many people throughout Nepal. People visit their local monasteries; still, in Kurintar, people visit the local monasteries and temples and pray for peace and enjoy a peaceful and harmonious celebration of the Buddha, while at the same time reflecting on their own spirituality.

Gai Jatra

Gai Jatra is a very different holiday in that it is in memory of loved ones who have died. It is celebrated with people parading down the street with cows (or children dressed as cows) in their honor. Like most other holidays, it includes fun and tradition and brings people together as a whole community while remembering their deceased loved ones.
