How to reach Manali

Fly to Bhuntar (Kullu-Manali Airport, IXC), 50 km south. Daily flights from Delhi (1 hr), Chandigarh (55 min). Taxis ?1200-1800 or HRTC buses ?150 take you up the winding gorge in 90 minutes. Book early in peak season.

The prettiest way. Overnight AC Volvos from Delhi (?1200-?2500, 13-15 hrs) drop you at Manali bus stand. Self-drive via Kiratpur-Bilaspur-Mandi is spectacular; new Atal Tunnel cuts Rohtang traffic. Start early, stop at roadside dhabas for parathas and mountain views.

No direct train. Nearest broad-gauge Joginder Nagar (narrow gauge toy train) or Chandigarh (310 km). Best option: overnight train to Chandigarh, then shared taxi or bus (8-10 hrs). Comfortable, scenic, cheaper than flying.
