Govardhan Puja
Rabaris decorate their cows with mirrors and bells, worship hills as Govardhan. You’re invited to join the bonfires and sing-songs.
Dev Narayan Festival
Three-day folk festival at Dev Giri temple. Bhopa singers narrate epic ballads all night under the stars, leopards included in the audience.
Holi with Rabaris
No colours, just a massive bonfire (Holika dahan) and dancing to dholak till sunrise. Next day they smear cattle with ash. Raw and beautiful.
Teja Dashmi
Local deity Teja worshipped with horse races and sword dances near the dam. Men ride bareback at full gallop,terrifying and spectacular.
Diwali in the wild
Camps light hundreds of diyas around the tents, Rabaris burst crackers near leopard hills (leopards don’t care). Sky full of stars, earth full of fire.
