How to reach Joshimath

Fly to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (295 km). Morning flights from Delhi give you a full day. Pre-booked taxis (?5,500-7,000) or shared cabs (?800-1,000 per seat) reach Joshimath same day via stunning river gorges.

The prettiest mountain drive in Uttarakhand. From Rishikesh, follow the Ganga, then Alaknanda through five sacred prayags. Road is mostly good; landslides are rare post-monsoon. Overnight buses from Delhi (ISBT Kashmere Gate) drop you by 9 am.

Reach Rishikesh (250 km) or Haridwar (275 km) by train. From station, shared Sumos leave every hour till 11 am (?450-600). The rail-plus-road combo is comfortable and cheap.
