Right in the heart of the bazaar, this 17th-century Shiva temple gave Mandi its name (“market of ghosts”). The stone lingam is ancient; the courtyard buzzes with life. Evenings here feel like stepping into a Pahadi painting.
Triloknath Temple
On the left bank, reached by a charming suspension bridge. Exquisite stone carvings of Shiva in his three-world form. The Beas roars below; prayer flags flutter above. Sunset aarti here is pure magic.
Panchvaktra Temple
At the confluence of Beas and Suketi rivers, this five-faced Shiva temple sits like a crown. Ancient, serene, surrounded by mountains. The walk down from the road is lined with tiny shrines and sadhus.
Rewalsar Lake
Sacred to Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs. Floating islands, Guru Padmasambhava cave, colourful monasteries. Feed the fat carp, watch Tibetan monks debate, feel three religions breathe together.
Prashar Lake (50 km)
A turquoise jewel at 2730 m with a floating island and a three-tiered pagoda temple. The drive is spectacular; the silence absolute. Snow in winter, wildflowers in summer.
Victoria Suspension Bridge
Built 1877, still swaying gently over the Beas. Walk across at dusk when the town lights shimmer on the water and the mountains turn purple. Pure old-world romance.
