How to reach Dalhousie

Fly to Pathankot (80 km) or Gaggal-Dharamshala (105 km). Daily flights from Delhi. From Pathankot airport, prepaid taxis ?1800-2500 take you up the winding mountain road in under three hours, with tea stops and sudden views of snow peaks.

The drive from Delhi via Jalandhar-Pathankot-Banikhet is smooth and beautiful, last 80 km a steady climb through pine forests. HRTC Volvo buses from Delhi (?1300) drop you right at Gandhi Chowk. Private cabs or self-drive recommended for flexibility.

Pathankot Junction (80 km) is the nearest major station, connected to all parts of India. From Pathankot, shared cabs (?250) or private taxi (?2000) reach Dalhousie in 2.5-3 hrs. The narrow-gauge toy train to Kangra is lovely but slow and doesn’t reach Dalhousie.
