Palces to visit in Dalhousie

Khajjiar - “Mini Switzerland of India”

Just 22 km away, a huge emerald meadow ringed by deodars with a little lake in the middle. Paragliding, zorbing, horse rides, or simply lie on the grass and watch clouds drift. The 9-hole golf course at 6,500 ft is one of the highest in the world.

Dainkund Peak - the singing hill

Easy 3-km trek from Air Force base at Lakkar Mandi. At the top, a small temple and 360-degree views of the entire Chamba valley, Pir Panjal and Sach Pass. On windy days the pines literally sing; locals call it the music of the goddess.

Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary

Thick forests of blue pine and deodar, home to barking deer, Himalayan black bear and pheasants. A quiet 3-km nature walk from Lakkar Mandi to Kalatop rest house; in winter you might get snow even when Dalhousie is clear.

St. John’s Church

Built 1863, oldest church in Dalhousie. Stained-glass windows, teak pews, British-era memorial plaques. The Sunday service still feels like stepping into a Kipling novel. Surrounded by deodars, perfect for quiet evenings.

Panchpula

Five little streams meet here, a pretty picnic spot 3 km from town. A memorial to freedom fighter Ajit Singh stands beside waterfalls and a small café. In monsoon the water roars; in winter it freezes into glass curtains.

Satdhara Falls

Seven springs with supposedly medicinal water, 2 km from Gandhi Chowk. Easy walk, beautiful in all seasons. Locals fill bottles claiming it cures stomach problems; tourists come for selfies and the cool mist.
